UNIFORM
The scout uniform makes the scout troop visible as a force for good and creates a positive youth image in the community. Boy Scouts is an action program. Wearing the uniform is an action that shows each scout's commitment to the aims of Scouting. The uniform gives the scout identity in a world of brotherhood of youth who believe in the ideals.
The official scout uniform consists of a scout shirt, scout pants, belt and socks (when wearing shorts). Scout uniforms should be worn, buttoned up and tucked in, to every activity, campout and court of honor. BSA policy requires scouts to wear a uniform while en-route to troop activities. This is an important part of the BSA insurance requirements.
A "Class B" uniform (which consists of a Troop 655 t-shirt and scout pants) is suitable for some troop meetings and daytime activities at scout camp.
The official BSA uniform should be worn in a neat, uniform manner with the shirt tucked in and the pants pulled up to the waist. Uniform shirts should have the proper patches and current rank applied in the proper location (please see the Boy Scout Uniform Inspection Checklist for details). Most of the patches are provided to you for free by the ward. The other parts of the scout uniform can be purchased from the Boy Scout Shop.
LDS Stake leaders have asked that shorts not be worn to youth activites at the church meetinghouse unless specifically warranted for a specific activity. Please see that your son is dressed appropriately for our scout meetings and activities.
